Root Down very near Freiburg there is a peaceful forest lake and its shore, a traditional restaurant. A decade ago, said Rainer Truby on there if they could not even throw a party. The club night under the name Root Down hit like a bomb, and since then there regularly provide international DJs as the handle in his hand. (more…)

Fat Freddy's DropAus New Zealand currently spilling the big hype about the reggae-soul band Fat Freddy's Drop on all seven seas over to us. Nothing really earth shattering, you might say, and besides: who already interested in playing there Kiwi community that seems to be under strong Jamaican influence? The fame did not happen overnight: singer Joe Dukie for Recloose Dust was already behind the microphone, FFD scored their second last year with a Semi-Hit and Hope were allowed to perform live for Gilles Peterson. Common today, tomorrow I have spared the look in the mirror again, mostly because that's just after getting up is not particularly great, what do I get there to see. The online edition of Der Spiegel in turn is worth a look from time to time. There is then gegroovet violently or with the head nodding, when the newest black music discs are monitored and reviewed.
